Merrion Group and C Group Developments, joint developers of Chivers House on Windsor Bridge Road, are proposing to replace the existing commercial warehouse on the site with a much-needed residential scheme.
The site is currently used for temporary storage but the new scheme will create approximately 92 new residential units in Bath. The proposals include a mix of 1-bed, 2-bed and studio apartments which are suitable for first time buyers. The development will also, through a land donation from the developers, enable Bath and North East Somerset Council to realise their ambitions for a Sustainable Transport Route (STR) running out of the city centre to the west of the city. A former railway bridge to the rear of the site, which is currently not accessible to the public, could be opened for pedestrians and cyclists. A public open space to the east of the site fronting on to Windsor Bridge Road could link the new STR and the reopened bridge with the popular Two Tunnels Cycle Route.
